The INSITE-TAAE fellowship : A New Chapter in Cross-border Architectural Education
The INSITE-TAAE fellowship marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between the Transborder Association of Architectural Education (TAAE/ATEA) and INSITE, with the generous support of the Prebys Foundation. This fellowship is designed to foster meaningful cross-border exchanges among emerging architects, designers, and artists, providing a platform for interdisciplinary research, site-specific explorations, and collaborative workshops that address the complex social, spatial, and environmental issues shaping our region. For its inaugural year, 22 students from 11 universities across the San Tijuana region have been selected as fellows. These students represent a dynamic and diverse group of young thinkers dedicated to exploring new possibilities for architectural and urban engagement.
The fellowship officially launches with housing ecologies: conversations on transborder living, taking place February 15-16, 2025. This event will bring together fellows, faculty, and leading voices such as Teddy Cruz & Fonna Foreman, Renée Chow, Adriana Cuéllar, & Marcel Sánchez Prieto, among others, to engage in discussions, tours, and explorations at key sites in San Diego and Tijuana.
