Converging Horizons embodies a transformative vision for architectural education and practice in the San Diego-Tijuana border region. The project aspires to strengthen the ties between the architecture communities on both sides of the border, inspire creative approaches to better support our communities with a multidisciplinary approach to architecture, urban design, and planning in the region, and respond to a critical imperative—the demand for a paradigm shift in architectural education and practice within the unique context of our border region. This imperative arises from keenly recognizing the region’s pressing social, environmental, economic, and cultural challenges.
